Superior North EMS Partners with Department of National Defense to Improve Training
In an innovative partnership, local paramedics will be given access to a sophisticated training manikin purchased by the Government of Canada for training of military personnel. To be located at the EMS district headquarters until a permanent facility is available, this computerized manikin can simulate most medical situations such as, chest sounds, heart sounds, cardiac EKGs, I.V. starts, body fluid outputs, bowel sounds, spasms of the airway, defibrillation, intubation etc... Paramedics and army medical personnel will use the new system to practice skills in very realistic conditions. Military and civilian paramedics will work more closely to improve skills and share expertise.
