The Association of Municipal Emergency Medical Services Organization (AMEMSO) elects new president

September 29, 2006 - Windsor.   At its annual conference last week, members of AMEMSO elected Mr Jocelyn Bourgoin of Manitouwadge, Ontario as its president for a two year term. Mr. Bourgoin is the Director of Superior North Emergency Medical Services which provides services to the District of Thunder Bay and a former executive director of the Ontario Paramedic Association. He served as Mayor of Manitouwadge and President of the Thunder Bay District Municipal League. Mr Bourgoin brings thirty years of experience in the provision of both urban and rural emergency medical services in the Province of Ontario. "I'm proud to be elected as the president of AMEMSO and I look forward to working with Ontario's municipalities, the Ministry of Health, and our paramedics to ensure that we continue to provide high quality emergency medical services to the citizen's of Ontario", said Mr Bourgoin. "I eagerly accept the challenge of leading AMEMSO as we navigate through the many challenges we face", he added.

Mr Bourgoin replaces Richard Armstrong, Director of Durham Region EMS, who served as the first president of AMEMSO for three terms. "AMEMSO has grown to become the key organization representing the concerns of municipal emergency medical services agencies to the Province and to other stakeholders", said Armstrong. "I am proud of what we have achieved, and I'm sure AMEMSO will continue to be relevant and effective", he added.

AMEMSO consists of municipal emergency medical services providers in the Province of Ontario and serves to work with the Province and allied agencies in matters of pre-hospital emergency medical care.
