Superior North EMS Celebrates Emergency Medical Serivces Week, May 14 to 20

May 14, 2006 - Superior North Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will celebrate EMS Week, May 14 to 20, by participating in both City and District of Thunder Bay events designed to highlight the role played by paramedics in the provision of emergency services. Paramedics are highly trained members of both the emergency services and health care teams. They respond to 911 emergencies and work under stressful physical and mental conditions.

In Thunder Bay, paramedics will host an information display at Intercity Mall throughout the week. "Paramedics from Superior North EMS look forward to meeting area residents at to provide the public with an overview of our service and programs," said Norm Gale, Manager, Quality Assurance and Training with Superior North EMS. "The Intercity Mall display will include demonstrations of equipment used by paramedics, as well as educational information about EMS, aspects of health care, and pandemic influenza. Our Moose Medic mascot and Andy the Ambulance will also be in the mall, and they are always a big hit with the young and young at heart."

Paramedics will also be hosting various public functions in communities throughout the District.
