Superior North EMS Appoints New Operations Manager
February 5, 2008 - Mr. Donald Stokes has been appointed to the position of Manager, EMS Operations, West Region for Superior North EMS. In this position, Mr. Stokes will be responsible for the operations of our Thunder Bay, Shuniah, Conmee, Armstrong, and Upsala EMS stations.Mr. Stokes brings a wealth of local and provincial EMS experience to our leadership team. He has 28 years of experience in EMS, moving from ambulance attendant in Thunder Bay to critical care paramedic on air ambulance. He then moved through progressively senior management positions in the Ministry of Health. As noted, his experience ranges from land ambulance, air ambulance, and Ministry of Health administration. In his career, he has been a paramedic group leader, a District EMS Manager (Air), Area Manager (Air), and most recently Field Manager (Emergency Health Services).
"I am very pleased that Don has accepted the position. Don's experience and leadership ability will benefit Superior North EMS and the citizens we serve," said Norm Gale, Director of EMS. "Along with the normal operational concerns of a busy EMS system, Don will be focusing on the implementation of a new EMS deployment plan and with the construction of a new EMS facility for the north ward," added Gale.
Mr. Stokes has assumed the duties of Manager, EMS Operations, West Region, effective Monday, February 4, 2008.
