Paramedics Respond to Serious Accident on Dawson Road

Thunder Bay - Paramedics, police officers, and firefighters responded to a serious motor vehicle collision this morning at 0830 on Dawson Road between Mapleward Rd and Townline Rd. A head-on collision occurred on the highway between a SUV and van, causing severe damage to both the vehicles. The Thunder Bay Fire Department's jaws-of-life were required to extricate two people. The extensive damage delayed the time for the extrication of both people, with paramedics providing treatment to the patients while they were trapped in the vehicles.

Paramedics assessed and treated three people, and all are being transported by paramedics to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre ER. Three Superior North EMS ambulances, a Superior North EMS first response vehicle, Thunder Bay's air ambulance, and firefighters were on scene.

The injured included:

i) a 50 yr old female with multiple trauma;

ii) a male with leg injuries; and

iii) a male with minor injuries;
