It was a huge turnout Thursday, as more than 700 city employees showed up to begin their annual efforts in support of the United Way.

City staff, Superior North EMS and TBayTel have again teamed up for an 11th year to help raise funds for the charitable campaign.

The City campaign was kicked off at the annual luncheon, unveiling the fund raising goal of $110,000 for 2006. The team is raising the bar this year with a ten thousand dollar increase to last year's goal.

Municipal division chair Carol Busch says she's confident they'll reach the goal, because they seem to exceed the goal year after year.

She's says the theme this year is 'Let's Party!' to celebrate their fund raising successes in the past ten years, and to celebrate and thank the employees for all of their contributions.

''It's just amazing that we have so much support and we really truly appreciate it. It's only with their help that we will achieve our goal.''

Busch says the team wants to do all they can to support the programs the United Way funds. And over the last ten years, this division has contributed about $630,000 to the United Way.
