Paipoonge First Response Team
The team conception occurred in 1992, and became a separate but connected aspect of the Paipoonge Fire Department. The team started out with twelve members and through the years we have had the retirement of some members and induction of others. The team is kept fairly busy all year, due mostly to our population and geographical dynamics. Our municipality is interconnected to the Oliver First Response Team (FRT), and together we have three major highways (61, 11/17, 102), four schools, two retirement homes, and three trailer parks. Also in our municipality we have Legion parks, baseball fields, two golf courses, and recreation centers. Fortunately, we also have three halls on either side, situated in principal areas of the municipality.
Our team trains two evenings a month and also participates in the month end combined training with the Fire Department. We have an exceptional relationship with the community and our fellow teams and we have great pride in our group cohesion and unity. Often in the case of bad accidents or particularily difficult medical calls, the team comes together to support and offer understanding to those who have difficulty. Our first response team is on call 24 hours a days and we are always there to help.
